NEW ARRIVALS... Exotic Firewood

As firewood fanatics, we are continuously striving to source the very best firewood on the market. Some of the most dense firewood available is grown overseas, which is why we are delighted to offer our customers a range of different firewood from around the world!

Kameeldoring South African Firewood

Picture
A large umbrella shaped tree with feathery foliage from the African savannas where it is a favorite that is browsed by elephants and giraffe. The common name Camel Thorn is loosely translated from the Afrikaans name “Kameeldoring”, coming from kameelperd (giraffes). Our firewood is taken from the branches that fall from the trees due to their exceptional weight.
Axes must be seriously sharp to split this firewood! Our Kameeldoring firewood is responsibly cropped with governmental co-operation with local landowners and farmers. The bark is grey to blackish brown, deeply furrowed and young branches are a shiny reddish brown. Kameeldoring is a hardwood and due to its density is considered an iron wood. It has the lowest moisture content of any wood as it is baked by the African sun to as low as 0 to 1 % moisture content.
Amazing long burn times, virtually zero smoke production, no wasted energy burning off extra moisture and the very best return in calorific value terms that money can buy. This is alsoa superb cooking wood, perfect for fire pits and chimeras and has exceptionally long burn time!

Mopane South African Firewood

Picture
Mopane is an extremely hard wood and even termites avoid eating it. Mopane
trees love growing between rocks and on mountains, they are considered a weed and a problem in South Africa. The problem is so great, that approximately 35,000 tons of alien wood is exported out of South Africa every month and nearly 80% of this wood is used to make charcoal.
Mopane is one of the longest burning woods in the world and is very popular for fireplaces and BBQs as its coals retain their heat long after the fire is dead.

Olive Firewood

Picture
The Olive tree, native to the middle east, was introduced into the Iberian peninsula by the Greeks and Phoenicians who
planted it in their colonies. It went on to become a mainstay of their diet alongside cereals and vines. Olive firewood is an extremely dense firewood that burns with a fantastic aroma. The density of the wood means that it burns much longer than most woods here in the UK.
All our Olive wood is sourced from the Mediterranean region where there is an abundance of cut wood just left to rot from the Olive Farms pruning and replanting process. This makes it a perfect renewable & carbon neutral resource.

Glossop Firewood Join Woodsure - ready to burn

We are proud to announce we are now part of Woodsure's Ready To Burn scheme, the UK’s only wood fuel quality assurance scheme. The purpose of the scheme is to help homeowners look after their stoves and improve air quality.
Air quality and wood fuel has become a hot topic and stove owners are being asked to think about the impact of burning poor quality firewood has on the environment. A stove is only as good as the wood it burns and so the Ready to Burn stamp of approval will reassure those who purchase firewood/briquettes with its logo that they are dry enough and immediately ready to burn.

Kiln Dried Hardwood price increase

8/12/2018

With the cooler weather on the horizon, some of our customers are starting to  think about filling up those log stores. We would like to express our gratitude to all our customers who choose our service to do so.

It is with our deepest regret,
our kiln dried hardwood logs are set for a small increase in price this winter. This is due to the increase in price of raw materials in which our firewood is cut from.

In order to keep our prices down for as long as possible, we have managed to purchase a large stock of firewood at summer price. This stock is expected to last until September.

If you wish to purchase your firewood at last years price, you can do so by clicking the 'ORDER NOW' button below. Alternatively, give us a call and we will be happy to help.

Thanks again for your valued custom.
