As a local approved coal merchants Glossop firewood and fuel suppliers make it easy for customers to find the best quality fuels on the market. The Approved Coal Merchants Scheme (ACMS) was founded in 1962 by the coal industry in order to operate the Coal Trade Code, which is the code of practice of the distributive coal trade. Its purpose is to protect consumers from unscrupulous traders by enabling them to identify bona-fide merchants and know that there is a system of redress should things go wrong.
As of May 1st 2021, there will be no pre-packed house coal for sale to pick up and take home yourself. This does not include Smokeless Fuels. This covers all pre-packed house coal in sealed poly bags sold through retailers (including coal merchants), supermarkets, DIY stores and garage fore-courts. However, Approved Coal Merchants such as ourselves can still sell house coal in open sacks until April 2023.
