The chips are 6 to 10mm in size and ideal for use in a regular BBQ, smoker or any grill with a lid and ventilation. Add to white hot coals or protect in a smoker box. As they heat up their aromatic flavours are released infusing lovely smoky flavours into your food.
Pack size is approximately 500g giving you enough smoking chips for around 3 to 4 smoking projects. Packaged in sealed cellophane bags. Reseal bags after use, store in a cool dry place and your wood chips will be great for smoking for up to 2 years.

Alder is a light and delicate smoke flavour with a hint of sweetness. Pair with any fish and salmon in particular, but also delicious with chicken, seafood, pork and any vegetables.
Applewood is a favourite for food smoking because it works well with a wide range of food types. Whilst stronger than other fruitwoods, it still provides a pleasant smoke flavour with a slightly sweet overtone.
Beech is a one of our favourite wood smoking flavours. It is a light, mild hardwood with a slightly nutty flavour and a subtle companion to more delicate flavoured foods including poultry and fish. Its a great alternative to oak for salmon.
Cherry is a lighter fruitwood flavour than apple with an aromatic, rounded, sweet flavour which is a great complement to lamb, gamebirds, poultry and fish as well as vegetables and fruits, so a highly versatile flavour.
Hickory delivers a strong wood smoke flavour which is rounded and mellow at the same time. It works very well with pork including classic pulled pork and bacon, but because it is robust without bitterness it will also work with other strong flavoured foods such as mackerel, beef and try too with nuts and garlic.
A medium strength, richly flavoured hardwood with a slight sweetness, maple produces a lovely mellow smoke flavour which works well with pork and poultry and is also excellent with more delicate fish flavours such as trout.
Oak is by far the most popular wood smoke flavour and one of the most versatile. It’s rich, rounded flavour is quite strong but it works well with any meats, game, chicken and fish, particularly salmon. It can overpower more delicate flavours, but if you like things smoky, oak is a great choice.
Our Whisky Barrel Oak chips are produced from oak barrels used to age Scottish whisky. Infused over 25 years or more, these chips have a wonderful heady aroma of whisky and combined with the versatile heavy wood smoke flavour of oak, these are very special smoking chips.
