African Firewood (Braaiwood)
We’ve partnered with FSC registered suppliers in South African to bring you the hardest firewood on the planet, at the most competitive price! Incredibly dense and dry, our African firewood is classed as an Ironwood, producing extremely long burn times and an intense heat output. This makes it ideal for stoves, open fires and BBQs. Once burned, the African firewood produces hot coals which continue to burn for a long period of time, giving it the common name "Braaiwood" or BBQ Wood.
This wood is found in most areas of northern South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. This wood is extremely hard and is the longest burning wood that we supply. Labelled as an Ironwood, this wood is also termite resistant and is used in buildings and fence posts in South Africa as well as a great firewood. The termite-resistance, rich, reddish colouring also makes it popular for flooring. It has the lowest moisture content of any wood as it’s baked by the African sun. Outside Africa, this firewood is gaining popularity as a heavy, decorative wood, its uses including aquarium ornaments, bases for lamps or sculptures and garden accents.
